Mittens ARE the only solution, and felt them too, so they'll be wind proof! It's kind of hard to knit with mittens on, though, lol.

Yup - I've managed to completely paralyze my hands by going out without the mittens. One forgets how cold -4 REALLY is.Lovely socks and YOU CAN FIX IT! Use some lifelines and a small crochet hook.

I co-misserate with you about your puppy. Ours was courteous enough to deposit nice sturdy turds in surpirse locations so that we could clean up after her easily.
