Ingredients in my son's 12th store-bought Birthday Cake

My cake recipe (which I'm kicking myself for not making....)
eggs
flour
butter
cane sugar
baking powder
salt
vanilla

Buttercream frosting
butter
powdered sugar
vanilla
cream

I am so mad that I paid money for that damn cake.  GROSS.

That was one big SCARY cake!

I understand why you are kicking yourself (tough love from me today).

I am sure your cake tastes a hundred times better!!! And definately so much healthier (Who would have thought I was going to say cake is healthy) - it is worth the efort :-)

It's so annoying that that's the choice, either scary, unidentifiable ingredients or you have to make it yourself. Sometimes, you just don't have time to be June Cleaver.

This is just plain scary!
My stepdaughter is studying nutritional science so I'm well up to date with the horrors of many processes foods. She educates us, without lecturing and I'm learning a lot from her. Although I was quite health conscious to begin with and and reasonably healthy, she is still introducing me to a lot of new things.
